Bioenergy - a boost for birds? (Click here for the full article)

"It is good to see that the RSPB acknowledges the benefits to wild life that could stem from an increase in the area of cropping for "Bioenergy"

They call for an accreditation scheme to guarantee emission savings and to ensure that these crops would be grown "Sustainably" (Whatever that means!). They go on to suggest that the accreditation schemes offered by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements and The Forest stewardship council are the "Only" way to ensure that bioenergy helps reduce greenhouse emissions and does not damage biodiversity.

Surely it would be foolish to trust accreditation of bioenergy schemes to bodies that could be seen as being biased in favour of the doctrines they espouse and promote!
